Starting from the assumption that identity is formed by the relationship between the inner world of the subject and its outer world, PYX 1.0 deals with the construction of identity from one of these positions – as a part of a room installation that entirely fills the space of the [Kabinet] at the Künstlerhaus Salzburg.
First of all, the situation of the subject is observed, which is exposed to the environment without protection and has to find its way into it. This is done with the help of dance as a subject, which has to gain its identity, in an environment represented through photography and sound. The dance performance is within the room installation and can be perceived as a video projection.
The walkable tunnel construction deals with the theme with an emphasis on the outside world, which drastically affects the viewer as a subject, who explores itself within the boundaries of the tunnel itself and so questions the force of the influence of the outside world. The individual LEDs of the photo boxes, which stand abstracted for the subjective outer space of the artist composed as a photo collage, are deliberately controlled under various intermediary aspects.
